BackgroundNatasha has designed a collection of six outfits inspired by the contemporary artist Bruce Mclean. Similarly, to a selection of Mclean’s work, the sole focus of her work remained on geometric shapes as well as bright and bold colours; red, blue, yellow and pink with beige and neutral tones as the base colour. To maintain the sleek and neutral feel to her collection, the bright coloured fabric is hidden inside pleats, which allows the flashes of colour to be only being visible when the model moves. The collection consists of oversized silhouettes, which allows the fabric to move a lot more freely which maximizes the views of the colour flashes. Natasha chose to use heavier fabrics, as she wanted the garments to hang in a structured way, as well as enhance the shape of the designs. Heavy weight polyester mixed with crisp cottons created sharpness and cleanliness, which reflects her designs and inspiration. Producing this collection has allowed her to really expand her manufacturing knowledge and skill set and produce a collection of ready-to-wear womenswear garments which will help her to pursue the beginnings of a career within the womenswear design sector.
