Created in Birmingham the Midlands Fashion Awards (MFA) celebrates and rewards fashion, creativity, providing emerging designers across Birmingham and the Midlands with the opportunity to showcase their talent.
Bethan Jacka graduated from Nottingham Trent University where she achieved a Bachelors Honours 1st Class Degree in Fashion Design. As part of her degree course she studied at The Fashion institution of Technology in New York City. Whilst there she volunteered at New York Fashion Week, which provided her with an insight and desire into exploring fashion globally.Her final graduate collection is defined by the fusion of craftsmanship and attention to detail, digitally printed cottons and silks react with crafted pleats and refined tailored pattern cutting ease throughout the womenswear silhouette. Taking inspiration from the interaction of opposites; Digital Vs Craft, Geometric Vs Floral, exploring these through cut, colour, print and the interplay of femininity and masculinity. After presenting her graduate collection at Graduate Fashion Week, and obtaining a 1st class honours degree in fashion design, she has gained the confidence and self believe to turn her dream career into reality. Bethan is currently working at George, as a design assistant on ladieswear.
